Resumo: Verrucous Carcinoma is a low-grade variant of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Leukoplakia can be seen on adjacent mucosal surfaces, and verrucous carcinoma is a lesion that can develop from proliferative verrucous leukoplakia (PVL), a high-risk precancerous lesion. The aim of this case is to report on elderly female, who presented with a 2-year history of growth in the tongue. On intraoral examination, she presented a thick, diffuse, well-defined, painless plaque, with papillary or verruciform projections on the lateral aspect of the tongue, developed within a leukoplakic area. An incisional biopsy was performed which confirmed the diagnosis of Verrucous Carcinoma in a leukoplakic area. The patient was referred to the Head & Neck team for surgical treatment and the patient should be regularly monitored due to the risk of recurrences.
