Resumo: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw bones is a rare condition, and it is even more uncommon when it occurs in torus palatinus. To our knowledge, only 10 cases of osteonecrosis in torus palatinus associated with medications use, especially bisphosphonates, have been reported in the English-language literature to date. We describe an additional case in a 79-year-old woman, who was referred for evaluation of a painful swelling with areas of suppuration on the hard palate. Conservative treatment was performed and after spontaneous sequestrectomy, total healing was achieved. No alteration was observed after 6 months of follow-up. This case demonstrates that although uncommon in the torus palatinus, it is important to keep in mind the possibility of osteonecrosis in this region, especially in patients with antiresorptive and antiangiogenic medications.
