Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the incidence of oral manifestations in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing chemotherapy. Study Design: This is a cross-sectional observational study, in which adult patients with hematological malignancies, hospitalized and undergoing chemotherapy, were monitored daily to observe the possible development of oral manifestations. Sociodemographic data, length of stay, oral and oncological manifestations were collected. All patients underwent photobiomodulation to prevent mucositis. Fisher´s exact test was used to assess categorical variables. Results: 95 cycles of chemotherapy were included in the study. 67.4% of the patients were male and the mean age was 43.99 years. Non-Hodgkin´s lymphoma was the most frequent diagnosis observed. Regarding chemotherapy protocols, cytarabine was the most used drug, corresponding to 75.8% of cases, followed by methotrexate. Regarding oral manifestations, fungal infections were the most frequent, followed by the presence of oral mucositis. No correlation was observed between histological diagnosis and risk of developing oral mucositis. Conclusion: It is extremely important to know the treatments offered to these patients and the related side effects, to prevent them and consequently reduce the risks of morbidity and mortality.
