Resumo: It is common to use cinnamon oil as a flavoring agent in several dental products, which concentration can be 100 times higher than consumption in natura. Child, 11 years old, male, presented extensive and diffuse white plaques on the dorsum and bilateral margin of the tongue, had no symptoms, and could not be removed by scraping. He had adequate oral hygiene using Sensodyne dentifrice. The initial differential diagnosis was candidiasis treated with Fluconazole by a dermatologist. After using it for a period of 2 weeks, the lesion did not heal. After an assessment in our Service, and after an active search into the components of the toothpaste he was instructed to stop the medication and as a form of management, guidance was given to change the fluoride toothpaste for one that does not contain Chinese Cinnamon leaf oil, so the signs disappeared a week after discontinuing use of the product.
