Resumo: A 66-year-old male patient presented a chief complaint of gingivitis and burning throat. In medical history, he reported partial glossectomy and radiotherapy associated with chemotherapy for the treatment of a squamous cell carcinoma located in the floor of the mouth and the right lateral border of the tongue, nine years ago. Physical and radiographic examination revealed multiple dental implants installed 12 months after the end of radiotherapy, root remains, unsatisfactory restorations, and periapical lesions. Tooth 33 was extracted without intercurrences. After avulsion, the absence of the buccal bone plate was observed. Delayed wound healing, suppuration, and pain, on the 28th postoperative day, were observed. Surgical reintervention was performed for primary wound closure. Weekly, aPDT was performed as adjuvant therapy and after 33 days of follow-up, the wound was completely healed.Support: CNPq, PROEX-UFMG (PBEXT)
